Charles Unice, baritone soloist

Charles Unice is a native of Shavertown, PA, and has been singing professionally since his graduation from Bishop O’Reilly High School. Mr. Unice earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the Eastman School of Music and went on to earn his Master’s at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA. He is a seasoned concert musician, having sung to great acclaim the solos in various oratorios by Handel, Bach, Mozart and Fauré.

Mr. Unice has sung roles with many opera companies throughout the United States including the St. Louis Opera Theatre, The Pittsburgh Opera Company, and Chautauqua Opera Theater. Most notable were his Carnegie Hall debut with the Opera Orchestra of New York in New York City and his Hollywood Bowl debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Mr. Unice is currently teaching at Wilkes University. Future engagements include Sarastro in Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Colline in Puccini’s La Bohème with The Pennsylvania Opera Theater.

Mr. Unice’s discography includes a 2003 live recording of a “remarkable, vivid performance” of Ned Rorem’s Miss Julie with the Curtis Opera Theater under the baton of David Agler on the Albany Records label.
